2,4-Dimethylhexan ist eine leicht entzündbare, leicht flüchtige, farblose Flüssigkeit, die praktisch unlöslich in Wasser ist.cite-ref-gestis-1-9[1]

Sicherheitshinweise

2,4-Dimethylhexan kann mit Luft ein explosionsfähiges Gemisch bilden. Der Flammpunkt liegt bei 3 °C, die Explosionsgrenzen zwischen 0,8 Vol.‑% (40 g/m3) als untere Explosionsgrenze (UEG) und 6,5 Vol.‑% (310 g/m3) als obere Explosionsgrenze (OEG).cite-ref-gestis-1-10[1]

Verwendung

2,4-Dimethylhexan ist in der EU als Aromastoff unter der FL-Nummer 01.034 als Aromastoff für Lebensmittel zugelassen.cite-ref-4[4]
